We booked a tour of NYC
They pick us up at 8am(middle of the night)
The first thing we see as we approach NYC is New Jersey
The next is a wall they are going to build in New Jersey which shows were the Twin Towers were on the skyline. The left one lines up with the North Tower and the right one with the South.
We are getting on the Ferry for Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty
This is the train station in New Jersey where all the immigrants to the USA were distributed from.
From the ferry you get a view of the New York skyline
Ellis Island is where all the New Americans were scrutinized before entry
Then there she was. After we landed we thought we would enter the monument but NOOO
You have to make reservations at least a week in advance.
The New York Skyline from the Statue Very impressive
Then it is through the Holland Tunnel
3 miles long and 25 feet under the
Hudson River
By the Brooklyn Bridge
Next thing you know it's Ground Zero
The Fire Company where nobody survived 911
Then the cross
This is the last remaining piece of steel from the Twin Towers. The rest was made int 3 US Navy ships
The piece on top of the cross is from one of the planes
Then the church
Yes I did go inside.
This is the last of the buildings that has to come down. It's too late to implode it so they are taking it down one piece at a time.(apparently to the tune of over $200 Mil)
Then it's times Square
Wow! amazing. Something like Vegas only all the gambling here was done on Wall Street with our money.
Next it was Central Park. 900 acres of park in the middle of Manhattan
sorry - Pictures did not work
Finally the famous Tavern on the Green.
