Tuesday,St. John NB

It has been raining forever.

Heavy too

After lunch the rain let up a little so we headed for town.

Peg found Monuments

I think they named a hat after this guy

There were also cruise ships(we did not do too good with the pictures)

IT IS STILL RAINING

We went to the Reversing Falls but we did not get any pictures because there was not anything to take a picture of.The tide goes in the tide goes out,WOW

We also went to the famous market.Bought a few things.

Found another Monument and it stopped raining

Damn--------------It's raining again.

Monday Sept 28

So we are off to Saint John.

It is just before noon o'clock and it's raining like hell. It's been raining all night.

More covered bridges

More Graveyards.

You did not know about the graveyards.Peggy's new thing, she likes to visit old graveyards.

I like this one cause it has a stupid name.

Oh Ya-these are our new friends that we met at the campsite in Moncton last Saturday.

Here we are with them in Saint John.Great people from Chase BC.Barry and Gail Coward.

PS- Never mess with Barry's satellite dish.

SUNDAY-Gold

Immediately after posting my rant.
They called.
Saturday they had volunteered to plant trees all day then they had a function in the evening.
They invited us over to their house in the morning as Russ was heading for Halifax later in the day for a charity  golf tournament  early Monday morning.
We arrived about 11 had coffee & biscuits and toured their very nice home.

Saw a few trophies also.

Then it was off for a tour of their community with a stop at the golf course for a late lunch.

Took a few pictures with the "gold"
We had a fantastic visit with Russ,Wendy and my Aunt Barb and of course we promised to keep in touch more.

Saturday

My cousin Russ now lives in Moncton and my aunt Barb is also here visiting him and his family. When we were in Moncton earlier this week they were driving down the Cabot trail and would not be home till Thursday. We were heading to Hopewell Cape for a couple of days and we agreed to come back to Moncton for a visit on Friday.
The trouble with retirement is every day is Saturday so you lose track sometimes.
Anyway Friday morning arrived and we realized we were mixed up and would not be going back to Moncton till Saturday.
I called the only phone numbers we have for Russ and Wendy(cells) but no one answered so I left a message that we would not be there for one more day and that I would call when we got into town.
We  arrived in town just after lunch at which time I called both cell  numbers and left a message where we were staying and our phone number.
Never heard from them.
It seems weird to me that two commission real estate salespeople do not answer their phones.
Most would answer the phone even during sex.

So we did nothing all day, just sit around waiting for the phone.

The following is more of Thursday

Russ told us Alma was a great place to eat.

We went to a nice place on the ocean with a great view.

I parked the Jeep along way from everything cause the mutts were in there and they like to bark at people.
How would I know that 34 people would come stand beside the Jeep for pictures.

Peggy had never had a whole Lobster before.

                                                         She managed quite well

We even polished off a blueberry cobbler that was still warm from the oven.
We did share it as we did not want to tarnish these highly tuned bodies of ours.

FRIDAY

It was raining and the wind was blowing but we went sight seeing anyway

The views were still great.

This will be a fantastic shot in a couple more weeks when the leaves have all turned.

Then we found Cape Enrage
It did not enrage us at all

So we climbed up to the lighthouse for a better view

Great view but cold and windy

Then it was off to St Mary's point

We never did find the Point

Just another lighthouse

                                                                      And even an Anchor
                                                                      But no Point.

Hopewell Rocks Thurs Sept 24

Yes it is 9:30 am and no call backs.
I called the manager of Coast Tire about never being called back.He apologized and went to look for himself. He found the tire, put it away for me and promised me a discount for my inconvenience.
We shall see.
We checked out of the Campground at 10:30 & headed for a long journey of about 45km to the famous Hopewell Rocks.

It is quite spectacular here.
When the tide is in the water is higher than the holes in these rocks. When we took these pictures the tide was 1/2 in.

The variance can be up to 42 feet at some times.(only 32 feet at present)

Then we were off to Fundy National Park.

Great views.

Peg took a walk in the woods to find the falls, while I stayed back to babysit the kids.

It was quite a nice park with mountainous roads.

As you can see the wild birds were very tame and even posed for pictures.

Some other animals were also posing.

Wednesday-Moncton

The plan was to get the new tire & have it installed today but when I called they said they did not have one but there was one in St. John.
I called St John and she said the computer says they have one but she does not think they do.
She will physically take a look & call me back.
So much for that Idea.
So about noon,we decided to go for a drive and see a few sites.

Our first stop was Magnetic Hill.I always thought it was an illusion but not anymore.

You drive your vehicle down this hill & park it on the left by the white post. Then you put it in neutral & let off of the brakes.
This is from the bottom. It pulls you up the hill and over the top.

We tried it a few times & it works

They also have the last covered bridge to be built.

We thought Beth might like this slide.

This is where the Eagle shits. This is where the other animals shit
After all that shit we headed for Nova Scotia.

Then it was back home where we spotted another fine church along the way.

So now it is 4:30 and I have not heard back from my tire girl so I give her a call.
She has gone for the day.
That's ok, the guy tells me he will have a look and call me back within 5 minutes.
So now it is 5:30 and I have not heard from anybody at the tire store.
I give them a call but they closed at 5
What a way to run a business.
