Monday Aug 31

Well it started off as a beautiful day,sun shining etc

But then some dumb shit turned too short & wiped out Pat's fence & did a small customizing job on the Motor Home.

Not good

Tried to blame it on the new navigator but that didn't work.

Finally got out of Dodge about 11:30.
Had a good trip even though a lot of the roads sucked or were under construction
Passed through Montreal just as rush hour began(that was fun)

Just a note: If you drive through Ontario all signs are in English & French
When you pass through Quebec all signs are in French only
WTF
We do not have a clue about anything or what it is or what it does or what it sells.
This should be fun.
Even Timmy's & Rotten Ronnies signs are in French only
I guess what's good for the goose is good for the goose oh sorry that's la goose

SUNDAY

AHHH-It's a beautiful day at last

Hold on,15 minutes went bye & it's raining cats & dogs
Wow-More Rain

It's our last day in Pembroke so the mood is somber again.

Tara has gone to work
Pat's reading
Peggy is not feeling well
I'm going to watch the Nationwide Race.

After dinner we said good bye to the adults as they will be going to work before we get
up tomorrow

Somehow I think we will be getting a late start

Bye the way I may have found a new Navigator

I think she might work out ok

SATURDAY AUG 29,2009 AD

Twas a quiet day,so to speak.

It was "go home day" for some.

The mood is always more somber & the noise level lower on "go home day"

And it's still raining.

Hugs, kisses, etc were had by all then Tara loaded up her car with Wendy,Jodie,Beth & Alex & shuffled them off to the Ottawa airport.

It was all time well spent.

After a little relaxing it was off to Chris & Louise's.

Chris & Louise are good friends, who used to live in St. Albert, but moved back to Pembroke 9 years ago.Man how time flies.

Chef Louise made a fantastic
Chinese dinner for us.
All from scratch(I'm not
sure what scratch is or where
you get it but the meal was
perfect.
In fact, ever since I ate that
meal,I have a different slant
on life
Your not funny Rick
I know

What else does the box say Rick?

Anyway-A few pops might have
been involved with the evening
but it was great catching up &
telling a few lies.
It's too bad we cannot stay & visit
longer but we have an appointment
in that non-english speaking
foreign country just east of Ontario

Friday

I think Jodie convinced the kids that they wanted Rotten Ronnies for brunch.
So after some whining they got their way & off they all went.
Minus Peg & Rick.
Peg will do rotten Ronnies once in a while for the kids, but these little toes do not pass through the Golden Arches
(that.s not exactly true-about every 2 years I pass 1 of those trucks with the great picture of the Big Mac on it & get sucked in.One bite later & almost barfing I say I will never do this again)

Anyway-They were gone about 3hrs or more cause they stopped at the park & The Base to pick us up some "support the troops" paraphernalia. When they returned the kids played on the trampoline again

Sometimes that just means a place to sit & play with their DS's

This is Butters,a very good looking & wonderful dog, but,he wins the award for the weirdest dog I've ever met.Ellie has had to step down. This is Duke, just an all around great dog.

They also have a cat,but I'm not taking a picture of a cat.
After dinner Pat finally came home from "work?" & all hell broke loose.
I say no more about that.

But we did have a little celebration for Alex as he will be 5 next week

Thursday

Well we are back in Pembroke.
Alex & I & all the Broads.
Pat claims he's working out of town
but I have my doubts.

Alex & the hens got all duded up & went for pictures.
I was not allowed to go as they all claimed my mug would break the camera.

After pictures they all went for lunch
As you can see they didn't invite me along again.
(maybe I should take a shower)

PS. This is a rare photo of Wendy smiling for a picture.
Ice cream comes in very large bowls here.
I see someone was bad & didn't get any ice cream
OH MY-Old people on trampoline. No humans were injured during this filming.

Then it was time to dress up Granny-Oh Dear

Wednesday

After stuffing our faces Julie & I took off for Kanada first to get a new Laptop for her but our directions were not that good(got to get a new navigator)so it was on to Ottawa airport.

Here comes Alex,Wendy & Jodie.(late of course)
I know it's a shitty picture but it's all I got

Brother & sister back together again, what a joyous time.
At least until the picture is taken.

More reunions

ONLY 4 Months Till XMAS
Took Julie to town to meet Tara for "The Big Bike Ride"
A ride for the Hart & Stroke Foundation

Oh Dear time for lunch(with grandparenting juice)
Then took Julie to School to pick up her report card,a little late but it was a good one(Congrats Julie)

Then Granny & Breena went shopping & Julie & I went looking for a new Navigator.
We don't seem to have the same taste in Navigators

Then Julie went for a new DOO
I thought blue hair was for Grannys but what do I know-looks cool

Monday

Not a lot to report

Cut the grass at Tara & Pat's

Peg & I took the rug rats to the indoor pool
25C no breeze
the screaming of little children
200% humidity
the stench of chlorine
the splashing of the little boys

Ahh but the kids enjoyed it

Oh ya-The lifeguards may dress like the ones on Baywatch but they don't look like Pamela
Then we got lost on the way home.
Man o Man it's hard to find a good navigator.

Sat & Sunday

I went shopping on Sat
Needed beer
Pat's been working late(or so he says)but he was home in time for a swim as the sun did come out for an hour before it poured again
We BBQ'd at their campsite & had a fire.

#18 Rules @ Bristol

Sunday was moving day and I was a little apprehensive about getting the bus into their driveway at the house but because of my amazing driving skills it was a snap.
So we've settled in here for the next week before we will be headn east.

Julie is looking after the kids in the house,Pat went back to work again(his job sucks),Tara & Peg went shopping, the dogs are sleeping & Me well I'm doing the blog.

Oh ya-the sun came out for about 10 minutes so far today.

Friday Aug 21

Another dreary day in Ontariarario

Women went shopping,AGAIN

I relaxed
A little research on the puter
Read some of my book

When the women got home they had already stuffed themselves at "Deer & Moose's"
(But they said deer and moose didn't talk to them)

So you know what that means-NO DINNER FOR RICK

It is Friday so I will have to settle for beer & scotch around the campfire-oh dear

Wed & Thurs

Wednesday not a great day for me.
Peg took the kids to the beach in the am and again in the pm.
I played with the generator all day but never did get it to start(we need the generator to run the air as the park does not have enough power)
Talked to techs on the phone but no go.
Have an appointment in Marieville Quebec on Sept 1st.(Cummins Ottawa would be late in Sept)

Anyway Tara joined us late in the afternoon and after visiting we BBQ'd dinner. Then it was over to their place for a fire before bed time.
Another day without the camera.

Thursday it rained all day.
The girls went to town shopping while I stayed back to guard the fort.
(lots of Frenchmen in this territory)

When they got back from shopping I took them on at Monopoly.
Big Mistake
Got my butt kicked
So lets go for Dinner.
Had great Schnitzel in Renfrew with silly girls.
P.at had to work so Dudette took advantage of the situation
"Silly Grampa" This is what 4 hens can do to a guy after a while.

oh ya-it's still raining

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

Tuesday

Well it's still me & the hens.
After breaky we headed for the big berg of Cobden for groceries etc.The pickens were slim on the etc side so we headed for Renfrew.

We found our etc's & even some yummy fries.

After the fries we headed home where Blue jean Girl jumped on the Computer & Peg took the munchkins to the beach.

I was allowed some quiet time as I think I was beginning to crack under the strain of little ones.
After my break,it was time to do burgers but the rain was threatening on & off so we decided to do them at the kids place.

It never did rain.
DS machines everywhere.
It was after 8 by the time we ate then the skitters decided to pick on only Peg & I so we deserted the kids & went home.(what kind of grandparents do that?)

Monday

Tara & Pat scurried off to work so it was just me & the 4 hens.
It was a beautiful day so off to the beach we headed.

The waterbabies frolicked in the lake
Blue Jean Girl (it's 35 with 98% humidity) hung back with us & kept an eye on the little ones.
We had a picinic lunch, while watching the chipmunks gather berries
Sorry but the chippies & the loons would not let us photograph them.
However the wild dogs we caught later had no objections.

Twas a beautiful day even though we had a down pour which increased the humidity(if that's possible)After, the sun came out again for a great evening.

Sunday

Sunday Morning

Plan A-Leave town by 10am at the latest

Plan B-Left town at the crack of 11:45

Oh well

Plan A-Drive straight to Pembroke to campground.

Plan B-Drive around in circles going opposite way gps says for hours.

Plan C-Fire another navigator(Peggy)

Finally arrive at campground, nice place but no sewer & basically no power as we only have between 93V & 102V.
The kids get together, wow another DS.
Pat & Tara, mostly Pat made us a fine supper, then we went for a swim & it was an early nite for me.All that driving you know.

Saturday

Saturday we had to say goodbye to Wendy who headed home to Peterboro.
We could get lucky & see her again in Florida in a few months.(we're hoping)

Then we boogied over to Rod & Doneen's again.
The boat was waiting.
We were not the only boat in the water.

Kinda crowded around lagoon City.So we headed for a quieter spot by an Island.

Next thing you know the sky is looking spooky so we head'r home

Some were exhausted from the day in the sun.

We never got wet but as we were coming into the canals we notivced everything was wet.
We missed the downpour, but the tops were off the Jeep & it took on enough water for all of us.

Then the sun came back out so we could BBQ some fine steaks & maybe even have a little wine.
(Those Braziers are a bad influence)They force us to drink

Dinner with all my friends.
Then it was goodbye to the Braziers,Worlds Best Hosts,
Thanks again
